What you need
- A supported BMW. Check your car.
- A way to reach the car's OBD port: an ENET Wi-Fi adapter, or an ENET cable with a USB-C (or Lightning) Ethernet adapter for your phone.
- The Hellflash app for iPhone or Android.
Connecting your car
- Plug the adapter or cable into the OBD port under the dashboard.
- Turn the ignition on. The engine doesn't need to run.
- Join the adapter's Wi-Fi network on your phone, or plug the cable into your phone.
- Open Hellflash, go to Garage and tap Connect my car. On iPhone, allow Local Network access when asked.
If the app can't find the car, check the ignition is on and the phone is on the adapter's network, then try again.
Demo mode
Until you connect a car, Hellflash runs on a sample car so you can explore every screen safely. Nothing is ever written to a car in demo mode.
Flashing from the phone
Today the phone app reads your car, shows live data and builds tunes. Writing a tune to the car from the phone comes in an update. Until then, flash with Hellflash on a Windows laptop.
Tuning changes how your car runs. Do it at your own risk. It may affect your warranty, insurance and road-legal status, and you're responsible for how you use it. Always keep a charger on the car while writing, and never interrupt a write.
